Suggestions for collection centers for Relief to Haiti

Please, take the initiative and start a collection center in your area.

We are  hoping to ship a large amount of supply through the Friend Ships humaniterian service out of Lake Charles, LA. I would like for every city where we have at least one supporter to start a collection center. The friend ships organization has some very strict guidelines and packaging instructions. Please review them as you organize the collection drive.

The first step is to get approval from the Friend Ships. This form needs to be filled out and submitted to them: 1stResponse Form This form is to be sent to:

Lake Charles, La 70601

The Friends Ships Guidelines have a list of approaved items; We are putting emphasis on the following items.

Items for the collection drives for Haiti

1. Food

50 - 100 LBs bags of rice, beans, sugar, whole milk powder,  flour, etc
Equivalent boxes of these staples are also ok.

1 - 5 gallons cooking oil

Other non-perishable may be sent but use good common sense. A can of Crushed Pineapple to a country where fresh pineapple is available is not a good choice.

2. Clothing

Take into consideration that most people here are small or petite in size.  No pants sizes larger than 32' waist, no shirt larger than a 15. No ladies dresses larger than an 8. I know this is  limiting but anything bigger would just be taking valuable space and cannot be used.

With that in mind we can use: baby to adult clothes and shoes

3. Equipments

Computers - must be a Mac or PC able to run Windows XP. Notebooks preferred but will take desktops but only with a flat screen monitor.

Diesel Generators - any size

4. School supplies

Notebooks, pens and pencils, crayons. Be careful with books. They would need to be in French. Any English book is of no value here.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
